Tehri Dam in Uttarakhand is built on the Bhagirathi River and it is the tallest and biggest in India. It holds a reservoir for irrigation, municipal water supply and for the production of 1000 megawatt hydroelectricity. It is considered to be on a multi- purpose rock and an earth-fill embankment dam of 575 meter length. The nearby states including Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir etc are benefited by the power supply from this hydro- electric power project. The exotic surrounding attracts tourists in plenty toward this location as greenery plays a pivotal role in creating a pleasant atmosphere throughout the year. There are spots around the dam where adventure activities can be availed to add on more thrill to one’s vacation time. Near to Tehri Dam there are multiple villages and sightseeing locations that will entertain you.
