Kotdwar or Kotdwara is a small, busy and beautiful town in the Pauri Garhwal District of Uttarakhand India. It is now an upcoming centre of trade and commerce in Uttarakhand. It was also known as the 'Gateway to the hills'.

Kotdwara was once rules by was ruled by Mauryan Empire under Asoka the great, Katyuri dynasty, Panwar dynasty and the Gorkhas of Nepal. It is today a growing business and education hub and also one of the leading town of Uttarakhand..

Kotdwar Uttarakhand is a part of Garhwal tourism. It has a hot and humid climate during the summers and rainy season. The best time to visit Kotdwar would be from October - February.

Kotdwara is well - connected by bus and rail and can also be the starting point of the Char Dham Yatra. Transportation is not a problem here. It is well connected to major cities like Delhi and Dehradun by both road and railway.
